The design takes its inspiration from the original coin which Charles I supposedly gave to his trusted bishop William Juxon during the last moments before his historic execution. Struck in Solid 9-Carat Gold to a pristine Proof finish following its approval at Buckingham Palace, this superb tribute showcases Charles I’s official coat of Arms, signifying his rule across England, Scotland and Ireland. The Latin inscription ‘KINGDOMS FLOURISH THROUGH HARMONY’ further symbolises His Majesty’s rule and represents unity. Meanwhile an official portrait of King Charles III, by celebrated engraver Jody Clark, is on the obverse. Our Head of State appears uncrowned and facing left, mirroring Charles I on the original coin.
