The first of two Sovereigns issued during the reign of George VI which lasted from 1820 until 1830. Featured is ‘laureate’ portrait of the monarch on the obverse and the then relatively new design of St George and the dragon by Italian engraver, Benedetto Pistrucci. Struck by The Royal Mint in 22-Carat Gold between 1821 and 1825, it remains keenly sought-after and is the cornerstone of any serious Sovereign collection. Comes complete with an attractive Presentation Case and Certificate of Authenticity.
