The George V Solid Silver 1935 ‘Silver Jubilee’ Crown
The United Kingdom’s FIRST EVER commemorative crown
The UK’s FIRST EVER commemorative crown was released by The Royal Mint in 1935 to mark King George V’s Silver Jubilee. Struck in Solid Silver, it features an Art Deco depiction of the Patron Saint of England on horseback holding a long sword – a portrayal which has famously earned this silver coin the nickname the ‘Rocking Horse’ Crown. The obverse includes the UK’s official portrait of George V, the Queen’s grandfather, who famously began the tradition of Remembrance Day commemorations. Due to consistently high demand levels among collectors, only a low quantity are available from The Jubilee Mint, each displayed in a luxury Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
