To commemorate 125 years since the Queen Mother’s birth on the 4th August 1900, an official NEW Gold Proof Sovereign has been released. Officially approved by Buckingham Palace, this specially commissioned coin has been expertly struck in Solid 22-Carat Gold to the finest Proof finish. The reverse showcases a magnificent portrait of the Queen consort by renowned artist Sandra Deiana, who was inspired by a famous Cecil Beaton portrait of Her Majesty, taken in 1950 to mark her 50th birthday. The Queen Mother is depicted wearing the striking Indian Circlet tiara in a stunning evening gown. The year ‘1900’ also appears on the reverse, representing the year of her birth. Meanwhile featured on the obverse is an official portrait of Charles III by leading engraver Jody Clark. As the consort was such a greatly respected public figure, this limited edition tribute is set to be in high demand, but with a strict 599-piece mintage, only low numbers are available at The Jubilee Mint.
