Officially approved by Buckingham Palace, the NEW 2024 King Charles III £5 Laurel Coin Collection pays homage to an historic design first portrayed on British coinage over 400 years ago! The set includes three £5 Laurels, each immaculately struck to a high Proof-like finish and plated in either Pure Silver, 24-Carat Gold, or 9-Carat Rose Gold. Originally introduced during the reign of James I in 1619, the Laurel takes its name from the distinctive wreath crown worn by the monarch, just as His Majesty King Charles III does on the obverses. Uniquely, this effigy by acclaimed engraver Jody Clark depicts the sovereign facing right, as opposed to the uncrowned, left-facing portraits typically seen on our coinage. The reverse of each superb coin also showcases a restoration of the original centuries-old design, depicting a crown and quartered shield with the arms of each country within the United Kingdom.
