Renowned 19th century engraver Sir William Wyon’s Una and the Lion is today one of the most magnificent coin designs in history, originally issued in 1839 to mark the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign. In tribute, his famous portrayal of Una and the Lion has now returned on an official NEW Fine Silver 5oz Coin. Featuring an impressive diameter of 65.00mm, this limited edition release has been expertly struck in Five Full Ounces of 999/1000 Fine Silver to the most peerless Proof finish. Mirroring Wyon’s original design, on the reverse Her Majesty appears wearing a crown and flowing robes whilst holding the ceremonial Sceptre to guide the lion at her side. This image signifies Queen Victoria as a guiding force for her country, depicting her as Una from Edmund Spenser’s 16th century Fairie Queene’ poem. Meanwhile, included on the obverse is an official effigy of King Charles III by leading engraver Jody Clark. The coveted NEW 5oz coin is expected to be in high demand however availability is strictly limited due to an extremely low worldwide mintage of just 199. Each arrives in a luxury Presentation Case, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.
