To mark 80 years since war in Europe came to an end, a NEW gold sovereign is now available in limited numbers from The Jubilee Mint. As a fitting tribute to the biggest national commemoration of the year, this limited edition issue has been struck in Solid 22-Carat Gold to the highest Proof finish and officially approved by Buckingham Palace. The coin’s reverse showcases a never-before-seen design of the famous London skyline, including St Paul’s Cathedral, where thousands gathered on the 8th May 1945 to express their gratitude for the long-awaited victory. The design is complemented by Union Jack bunting along the top, as well as an inscription of the years 1945 and 2025. On the obverse, the coin displays an official portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by renowned engraver Jody Clark, known for creating the UK’s final official effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, who, at just 19 years old, witnessed this historic occasion first-hand.
