VE Day, on the 8th May 1945, marked the end of fighting in Europe and Germany’s surrender, bringing World War II to a close. To commemorate this historic event, the NEW limited edition 80th Anniversary of VE Day Solid Gold Proof Quarter Sovereign has been struck in Solid 22-Carat Gold to a superb Proof finish. Approved by Buckingham Palace, this 2025-dated coin features a specially commissioned, one-of-a-kind design of London’s skyline with St Paul’s Cathedral at its centre, symbolising the city’s role in VE Day celebrations. The reverse also includes flags with the letters ‘V’ and ‘E,’ and the years 1945 and 2025. Meanwhile, on the obverse is an official portrait of King Charles III by Jody Clark, a leading engraver best known for his coinage portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II. This milestone anniversary is of great historical significance and is likely to generate strong demand for tributes, but with only 999 coins available worldwide, this NEW release is expected to sell out quickly.
