The Queen Elizabeth I Original Silver Sixpence

The only silver sixpence struck during Elizabeth I’s reign

  • Over 400 years old
  • Individually struck in Solid Silver
  • Only issued between 1558 and 1603

This original silver coin dates back over 400 years and is the only silver sixpence to be issued during Elizabeth I’s 45 year reign, which lasted from 1558 to 1603. Individually struck by hand in solid silver using an early minting technique called ‘hammering’, this tangible piece of history features on its obverse a portrait of Elizabeth I, the last Tudor monarch and daughter of King Henry VIII, accompanied by an image of the famous Tudor rose. Meanwhile, the Royal Arms appears on the reverse. Understandably rare and extremely sought-after as a genuine silver sixpence from one of the most fascinating periods in our history, the Queen Elizabeth I Original Silver Sixpence is available in limted quantities at The Jubilee Mint. Preserved and protected in a luxury Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
