George V 22 Carat Gold Sovereign ‘Large Head’

SOUGHT-AFTER Sovereign

  • Limited edition presentation just 795
  • Last ever Gold Sovereign issued for circulation
  • Issued between 1911 and 1928

The first portrait to be issued during the reign of George V was struck between 1911 and 1928 inclusive and featured a larger portrait of the king. Significantly, the George V Sovereign was the last ever Sovereign to be used in circulation and it would be decades before it returned to our coinage during Elizabeth II’s reign. This Sovereign, struck by The Royal Mint, represented the end of an era and remains highly sought-after by collectors around the world.
