The UK’s 2002 ‘Golden Jubilee’ Solid 22-Carat Gold Half Sovereign

One-year-only half sovereign issued in the year of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee

  • Struck in Solid 22-Carat Gold
  • Designed by Timothy Noad
  • Marking key Royal event

To mark the 50th Anniversary of the Queen’s accession, in 2002, The Royal Mint issued only its second ever Sovereign design change since the monarch inherited the throne in 1952. As much in demand today as when it was first struck seventeen years ago in Solid 22-Carat Gold, this magnificent Gold Half Sovereign features a rare and sought-after ONE-YEAR-ONLY design by leading heraldic artist, Timothy Noad, depicting the crowned shield of the Royal Arms. On the obverse meanwhile, is the official definitive coinage portrait of Her Majesty, our longest-serving monarch of all time, by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS. Due to sustained demand, the UK’s 2002 ‘Golden Jubilee’ 22-Carat Gold Half Sovereign is now available to own in limited numbers at The Jubilee Mint. Housed in a luxury Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
