This sought-after silver crown was issued by The Royal Mint in 1993 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation. Struck in 925/1000 Sterling Silver to the highest Proof finish, the £5 coin features on its reverse a magnificent depiction of St. Edward’s Crown, used in Coronation ceremonies for hundreds of years, surrounded by forty trumpets. At the centre of the obverse design is the UK’s first official coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, by Mary Gillick, which is encircled by eight trumpeters on horseback. This silver proof £5 coin is in high demand on the secondary market, so only limited numbers are available at The Jubilee Mint on a first-come first-served basis.
