On the 8th May 1945, Victory in Europe Day marked the official end of WWII in Europe following Germany’s unconditional surrender. In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of this historic moment, The East India Company has issued a NEW gold coin, expertly crafted in 999.9/1000 Fine Gold to an immaculate Proof finish. Officially approved by Buckingham Palace, this limited edition coin’s reverse features a specially commissioned design by renowned artist Elles Kloosterman, depicting the winged figure of Victoria, a symbol of victory, wearing a flowing gown with her arms outstretched to form a ‘V’. Complementing this, an inscription at the bottom of the coin reads, ‘Victory in Europe 80th Anniversary’. On the obverse is an official effigy of King Charles III, whose mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was just 19 when she witnessed this historic triumph for Britain and her allies.
