To mark the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Britain’s famous statesman who led the country to victory during the Second World War, The Jubilee Mint has released a NEW and exclusive collection consisting of three original 1965 Churchill Crowns. Struck by The Royal Mint to commemorate his passing, each 38.61mm coin has been expertly plated in a rich layer of Pure Silver, 24-Carat Gold or beautiful Rose Gold and features the now-iconic portrait of Churchill, who was born on the 30th November 1874, by leading sculptor Oscar Nemon. Depicted on the reverse is a head and shoulders effigy of the former Prime Minister, who kept British spirits high during World War II with his inspirational speeches, dressed in a siren suit. Meanwhile on the obverse of each original crown is the UK’s first official definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by another prolific sculptor of the day, Mary Gillick. Her Majesty, who is wearing a laurel wreath head-dress, knighted Churchill in 1953 and granted him a full state funeral. This fitting tribute honouring the legacy of one of history’s most influential public figures is limited to only 2,024 sets, each housed in a deluxe Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
