The NEW Year of the Three Kings 90th Anniversary £5 Coin Collection
Marking an extraordinary year in the history of the British monarchy
To mark exactly 90 years since the unprecedented year of 1936 which saw no less than three monarchs on the British throne in less than twelve months, an official NEW coin set has been released to the nation. Officially approved by Buckingham Palace, each coin in the ‘Year of the Three Kings’ £5 Coin Collection has been plated in either Pure Silver, 24-Carat Gold or beautiful Rose Gold and struck to an impressive Proof-like finish. On the reverses are three Royal portraits, by professional coin designer Arianna Cicconi, depicting a superb likeness of father and sons. There’s the distinctive effigy of George V, whose passing on January 20th 1936 after a 26-year reign, triggered an extraordinary series of events resulting in his older son Edward’s decision to abdicate the throne after just eleven months. Meanwhile, completing the trio is his younger brother who neither desired nor expected to be king but came to power on December 11th 1936 as George VI while on the obverses is an official portrait of Charles III by celebrated engraver Jody Clark. Available in a strict 2,026 set mintage exclusively at The Jubilee Mint, this fitting NEW tribute is housed in a luxury Presentation Case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
