The NEW 50th Anniversary of Concorde Gold Proof Quarter Sovereign

Struck in 22-Carat Gold to commemorate a groundbreaking achievement in aviation

  • Features a ONE-YEAR-ONLY design
  • Approved by Buckingham Palace
  • Strictly limited to just 999 worldwide

On the 21st January 1976, Concorde’s first ever passenger flights took off, simultaneously travelling from London to Bahrain and Paris to Rio de Janeiro at breathtaking speeds of up to 1,350mph – that’s more than twice the speed of sound! Now available at The Jubilee Mint following official approval from Buckingham Palace is an official NEW Gold Proof Quarter Sovereign, struck in Solid 22-Carat Gold to the finest Proof finish to mark exactly 50 years since this historic moment in commercial flight. Designed by leading artist and sculptor Matt Bonaccorsi, who is best known for his work as Chief Engraver at The Royal Mint from 2004-2011, the reverse features a detailed image of the supersonic jet soaring through the sky. On the obverse is an official effigy of King Charles III by Jody Clark, who also designed the UK’s fifth and final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Given the public’s continued interest in the iconic airliner and a low mintage of JUST 999 worldwide, competition to own the NEW 50th Anniversary of Concorde Gold Proof Quarter Sovereign is extremely high. Luxury Presentation Case and Certificate included.
